  An amazing movie! I have never seen a sci-fi (this one is actually a Smith acting and production family affair) that consistently bad and atrocious on so many levels with very poor special effects, a dialogue that causes intense tooth aches and a story line that must have been dreamt up by a pre-puberty teenager. But the worst of all, you had to suffer watching a squawky little kid (the "hero" Jaden Smith) zapping most of the movie through a Redwood forest like scenery who has acting talent like a can of worms. If you are interested in self punishment, go and see it.

  For one you should look at the movie for what it is. Not your dislike of father-son movies. Yes its not a bang-um up killer will smith movie. Yes its slow but that doesn't mean its not great. Its more true to life than you are willing to look at so you don't like it. Its because your all throw away people. Gotta have it fast and hard. Sorry but it is a good movie just you should be realistic in your critiques of it.

  Jaden is not meant for lead roles and since his daddy paid for the film explains to me why his son is there. Just because you are born into an acting family doesn't mean you should follow in the same career.Too much of this happens and we the consumer need to make it clear if we want someone receiving millions for a film that is poor in talent and riding tailcoats. what a world, this movie is not worth your hard earned money.

  This movie was a long commercial for Jaden, and only Jaden. I was not surprised to read that mother was part of the production. I believe it would have been a great movie had a few of the boy's classmates (boys and a girl) been part of the trip and the quest to find the beacon.

  For the person who gave the movie 1 star and said they should call this movie "the smith family go to earth".. you are a sad pathetic and envious soul. I for one thoroughly enjoyed this movie and felt Will and Jaden had great chemistry together. I really enjoyed their characters. This movie was very entertaining, not far fetched in terms of sci-fi. Great visually as well. I recommend this movie for adults and families alike. Go see it.
