i thought this a wonderful movie that speaks volumes for fidelity, loneliness, belief in "til death do us part" and the hope that as you get older your spouse will still want to find you attractive, hold you, and make love to you. excellent performances. how mr carrell got through his scenes without smiling is beyond me.

i found this movie to be a very accurate portrayal of a middle aged couple who have lost the romance in their marriage. their lack of communication only exacerbates the problem. meryl streep is great as usual while tommy lee jone played a character i have never seen him portray before. but he played his character very well and i liked this movie immensely.

My husband left the movie after about 1/2 hr. Our daughter and granddaughter was with us, so it was very embarrassing. We all thought it was going to be a comedy. Did not know there would be sex scenes in it..I cannot recommend it...

wasn't expecting to like it this much. it takes real talent to act out these sensitive issues and leave us not only thinking but laughing too. a great flick for the over 50's and those who are 'out of touch'.
